Lord, Your law is perfect, but it could not change us. All it was equipped to do was to show us how desperately we need You, how far we fall below You. Yet even in our weakness, You condescended to love us, to make a way for our communion with You to be restored. I thank You so much for the cross, for the price You paid to redeem us and for its power to change our hearts. I thank You for being the one to change my heart and bring forgiveness where once there was only bitterness and mistrust. I pray that You would heal the hearts of Your people in Chiapas who have suffered much more than I have. I pray that You would change their hearts to be reflections of Yours with forgiveness and charity towards their persecutors, towards those who evict them from their homes, who attack them in front of their children, who try to force them into their own religious practices, who attack their places of worship.
I pray that the light of Your face would shine on that place, on that region, and that Your Holy Spirit would flood into that land and bring freedom with it, for where Your Spirit is, there is also freedom. I pray that the Gospel would be preached in word and deed throughout Chiapas and that the Christians would be a holy example of the blessedness that comes from knowing You. I pray that Your word would free those trapped in centuries of tradition and bring them into a knowledge of the truth. I thank You for Your faithfulness and for Your ability and desire to help Your people, and for the opportunity to come to know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
